Fritzi & Sophie - a boundless friendship

TV Series, 8 x 22 min

Based on the animated movie FRITZI – A REVOLUTIONARY TALE (2019), which depicts the Peaceful Revolution of 1989 in Leipzig from the perspective of a 12‐year‐old girl, the TV series delves into the themes of everyday life in the GDR and tells the parallel story of Fritzi’s friend Sophie, who dares the dramatic escape to the West with her mother to start a new life in the FRG.

The series FRITZI & SOPHIE was produced entirely in Germany. As co‐producers, studios of Balance Film and TrickStudio Lutterbeck, which proved themselves with the feature film FRITZI, joined forces with Studio Filmbilder.

The animation was done with motion capture technology, which was further processed in the 3D software Blender.

The series will premiere on ARD in the fall of 2024.
